This little ditty was written in 1984. Thanks goes out to my fabulous and brilliant mother for having the foresight and humor to save it.
**Grammar and punctuation errors are intentional. Do notice that there aren't that many of them as I have always been a stickler for commas. It's an unfortunate talent, I know.**“Katrina: A Modernized Cinderella”
Once upon a weekend, Katrina, a girl who had to do all of her step-mother and step-sisters’ work, was, of course, doing chores. She heard her step-sisters and step-mother talking. They said,
“Mother read it to us,” said Brooke.
“Please, mother,” said Victoria.
“Quiet and I will,” said Ms. Rivers, “It says:
“Please, come to my party, I will be selecting a wife. It’s at my mansion on March 29, 1984 at 8:00 P.M. to 2:30 A.M. Hope to see ya!
R.S.V.P. 642-4235 or MICHAEL
Sincerely,
Michael Jackson
P.S. Dress casually.”
Brooke and Victoria screamed and then started scrambling around trying to get everything just right for M.J.. Katrina had to help everyone, but herself, and she didn’t get to go. Katrina was very, very sad because she liked Michael Jackson very much.
When she was sitting, sulking someone appeared to her and said “I’m your fairy Godmother. Do you want to go to Michael’s party?”
“Yes, oh yes. I would love it!” Katrina said.
“Okay, then go get four hamsters, one dog and a pumpkin.”
“Okay,” said Katrina and she went off and got everything. When she got back Mrs. Express (that was the name of her fairy Godmother) turned the hamsters into four wheels, the dog into a chauffer and the pumpkin into a limousine. Then she turned Katrina’s work clothes into the most fashionable threads around and her shoes into some pumps.
She went to the party and had a total blast with Michael. She remembered what Mrs. Express had told her, to be home at 2:00 A.M., at 2:00 A.M. and the clock chimed and she ran from the mansion. Michael couldn’t catch her. When she got home the magic had worn off and everything was back to normal except her shoes. She noticed one was missing. So she took off the one she had.
The next day a man came around and he checked everyone to see if they fit into the shoe that Michael had picked up after the party. When it came to Katrina’s house she was the one that fit into the shoe. Michael then asked her hand in marriage and Katrina said, “Yes.”
On May 1, 1984, Michael Jackson and Katrina Elder were pronounced married. They lived happily from then to eternity.
